Ashwini Ponnappa is a famous Indian badminton player who represents the country at the international badminton circuit in both the women’s and mixed doubles disciplines. Here is her story.

INTRODUCTION


Ashwini Ponnappa was born on 18 September 1989 at Bangalore, Karnataka. Her current age is 32. She is a famous Indian badminton player who represents the country at the international badminton circuit in both the women’s and mixed doubles disciplines. She married businessman and model Karan Medappa on 24 December 2017. Her father known as MA Ponnappa and He used to play hockey early for India. Her mother name as Cauvery Ponnappa. She has a sibling named Appanna Ponnappa. Ashwini Ponnappa had a successful partnership with Jwala Gutta as a pair they won many medals together at the international level. They are the residents of Hyderabad.


HER INTEREST


According to her mother, In Ashwini’s childhood She played badminton and made paper balls as a shuttle to play. She is fond of badminton and started playing at the age of 18. She never used to stick at one place; she was an active child.


EARLY LIFE


She completed her education at St. Francis Xavier Girls High School, Banglore and the higher education took from St. Mary’s College, Hyderabad. As her father played hockey for India. However, Ashwini preferred badminton over hockey and started training in badminton. And now She also known as The Doubles Queen of Indian Badminton.


ACHIEVEMENTS


In 2001, Ashwini Ponnappa won her first public title in 2004 in the sub-junior girls’ doubles order. She also won the public title in sub-junior girls’ doubles national title in 2005, and the junior girls’ doubles national title in 2006 and 2007. She won the gold medal in mixed doubles and the platoon events at the South Asian Games held in 2010. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games, she won the gold medal in Women’s Doubles event pairing with Jwala Gutta, making history by winning the first gold medal for an Indian in the event. Gutta and Ponnappa came under names after winning the order in front of the home crowd.
