Now we will talk about a very special bowler who played for Australia during the time when the Australian team was the best in the world and he was a very important part of it with some incredible bowling Performances and we are here to talk about 5 of the best in his incredible career. We will talk about his overall stats below but I must say he was one of my favorite Aussie players and I wish he played more matches than what he played for Australia.


Jason Gillespie played 71 Test Matches and 97 ODI matches for Australia and he took 259 wickets in his test career at an average of 26.14 with 8 Five wicket hauls and in his ODI career he took 142 wickets at an average of 25.43 and he got 5 Wickets in an innings 3 times in his ODI career. 7/37 vs England (1997)


The best bowling performances in the career of Jason Gillespie came against England in the ashes of 1997 and it is no surprise that an Aussie bowls so  against England and vice versa. In this test match England were batting first and Jason Gillespie just ran through the batting line-up of England and they could only score 172 runs in the first innings and it was all thanks to this 7/37 spell from Jason Gillespie in just 13.4 overs which is extraordinary. A truly remarkable performance by a great player.

6/40 vs West Indies (2000)


The next bowling performance of Jason Gillespie that we will be talking about came against West Indies in 2000 at MCG and this came in the all important 4th innings and his incredible performance won the match for Australia suite easily. West Indies needed 462 runs to win of the final innings and it was Jason Gillespie who ran through the West Indies team and they only managed to score 109 in the 4th innings and Australia won the match by 352 runs. He only took 17 overs to do this carnage.

5/56 vs India (2004)


This bowling performance came against India in India where the tracks are spin friendly and then to bowl almost 23 overs and pick up 5 wickets is a special effort and it came in the First batting innings of India where India were looking to take the lead from Australia but Jason took regular wickets and stopped the run flow of the innings and India could only make 182 runs in the first innings and Australia won that match by 342 runs and it was mainly due to this 5/56 nu Jason Gillespie.

5/53 vs England (2001)


This is the second performance against England that has found a place in this list and it is because it came at Lord’s and Jason Gillespie was on fire in this match. It was the third Innings in this match where England were looking to catch to Australia and make a huge target for Australia to chase but Jason Gillespie didn’t allow that to happen as he bowled 16 overs in this innings and got 5/53 and thus an easy win for Australia in the end. Jason Gillespie had the ability to pick up wickets in any innings be it the 1st or the 4th in test cricket.

5/22 vs Pakistan (2002)


This is the ODI bowling performance on our list and it is his best one in his ODI career and it came against Pakistan in 2002. Australia made a massive 332 in the 50 overs and Pakistan were already behind in the game but Jason Gillespie added to their misery as he bowled 10 overs and gave away just 22 runs and picked up 5 wickets and Pakistan got out for 108 runs thus giving an easy win by 224 runs to Australia. Jason Gillespie was a match winner for Australia and when he performed then Australia won.
