196 vs Pakistan (1972)


The first performance of Ian Chappell that we will talk about is this innings from 1972 vs Pakistan at Adelaide and it was one of his most explosive innings In test cricket as well. In the first innings Pakistan were bowled out for 257 and un reply Australia had a great time as they scored a lot of runs and leading the pack was Ian Chappell with a brilliant 196 which had 21 fours and 4 big sixes in the innings which means a total of 108 runs in boundaries. It was an innings that took Pakistan out of the test match.

192 vs England (1975)


The second incredible performance of Ian Chappell came against the familiar rivals England in the Ashes in 1975 where in this test match Australia were batting first and they took full advantage of the best batting conditions. Ian Chappell came in at number 3 and he took the good England attack to the cleaners and scored 192 at a strike rate of 52.32 which included 17 fours In total . It took Australia to a massive first innings score of 532 as well and the match was drawn.

165 vs West Indies (1968)


The third performance that we will be talking about is the brilliant 165 that he made against West Indies in 1968. While batting first in this test match West Indies were bowled out for 200 and this allowed Australia to bat freely and post a big score and that’s exactly what they did and at number 3 Ian Chappell again made a big score of 165 at a strike rate of 51.56 and it consisted of 16 fours and Australia made a whopping 510 in the first innings and eventually they won the match by an innings and 30 runs.

151 vs India (1967)


This was the first test hundred In the career of Ian Chappell and it was a brutal assault vs India in 1967 and in this test match Australia bowled first and got India all out for 173 and while batting in their first innings Australia had 3 batters score Hundreds in their Innings but it was Ian Chappell who came in at number 5 and took on the Indian bowling and he made an incredible 151 our if only 224 balls at a great strike rate of over 67 which had 21 fours in the innings and Ian Chappell had announced his arrival to the cricketing world.

145 vs New Zealand (1974)


The last performance that we will be talking about is the hundred that he made against New Zealand at the Basin Reserve in 1974 and this was a memorable partnership with his brother Greg Chappell and they made a mockery of the New Zealand bowling attack. Ian Chappell came in at number 3 and made 145 out of 268 balls with 17 fours and 1 six and this was a great reminder that Ian Chappell had still got it and the match was a draw.
