This is without a doubt one of the all time great tennis rivalries of all time as both Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras were two of the best tennis players of their time and always had the best matches out of any pair at that time. And the Tennis fans were always divided as to who to support more between these 2. Both were world number 1 for 286 weeks and 101 weeks respectively. Pete Sampras held the record for 286 weeks as the number 1 at that time. Andre Agassi wanted to be better than Pete Sampras and that is what made their rivalry great.
They faced each other a whopping 34 times which was a lot at that time and the head to head is not that one sided as Pete Sampras won 20 or their Matches and Andre Agassi won 14 of those matches. They started this legendary rivalry in 1989 and it went on till 2002 that means 13 years at the top. So, let’s celebrate this once in a lifetime rivalry.

Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi faced each other a total of 9 times and Pete Sampras won 6 out of those Matches and Andre Agassi won 3 Matches. Their first Grand Slam meeting was the 1990 US Open Final where Pete Sampras won in straight sets. They again met in the 1905 Australian Open Final and this time it was Andre Agassi who won this closely fought match and took home the title. In 1995 again they faced each other in the US Open Final and Sampras won this one so it was going back and forth. Then they took on each other in the 1999 Wimbledon and 1002 US Open Final and both times it was Pete Sampras who was the victor.

They faced each other 9 times in Grand Slams but they also had 25 other matches which were not a part of the Grand Slams. Sampras-Agassi took on each other 6 times at the ATP World Tour Championships and it was 4-2 in favor of Pete Sampras. Then they had 10 Matches at the ATP World Series and it was 5-5. The Head to Head outside of Grand Slams was Pete Sampras had won 14 matches and Andre Agassi had won 11 Matches.
