1971 French Open Final vs Helen Gourlay


This was the first Grand Slam title for Evonne Goolagong and it was the only French Open that she won and she played a brilliant match in the final and it was only 2 sets but both of them were competitive. She won the first set 6-3 but the second set is where there was a close contest byr in the end Evonne Goolagong showed her class and won the set 7-5 and won her first and only French Open title. This was a special moment for her and the start of incredible things.

1971 Wimbledon Final vs Margaret Court


The 1971 Wimbledon Final was between the 2 women that we have written about today and 2 of the greatest Aussie tennis players of all time. This time though it was Evonne Goolagong who got the better of her opponent as she won the first set 6-4 but in the second set there was no fight and Evonne Goolagong won it 6-1 and won her first Wimbeldon title. This was a very emotional moment for her as she had beaten the best of all time and in such dominating fashion.

1974 Australian Open Final vs Chris Evert


Her first home Grand Slam win in Australia came in the year 1974 and she has to work very hard against Chris Evert who was out there to win aa well. This was a 3 set thriller and Evonne Goolagong won the first set after a tie break at 6-6 and won it by 7-6 but Chris Evert came back in the second set and Evonne lost it 4-6 but it came to the decider and here Evonne Goolagong had more in the tank as she completely dominated a great player in Chris Evert and won the third set 6-0 and as a result the Australian Open.

1980 Wimbledon Final vs Chris Evert Lloyd


The fourth performance on this list is a repeat of the third match and there is a 6 year gap between these 2 matches and the fact that these 2 incredible tennis players were in Grand Slam finals even after so long was proof that they were the best. In this match Evonne Goolagong won in 2 sets but it was a take of 2 sets as she won the first one easily 6-1 but in the second set Chris Evert made her work and it went to a tie break and here Evonne kept her cool and won the tie break and the set 7-6 and her second Wimbledon title.

1975 Australian Open Final vs Martina Navratilova


The fifth performance on this list was a match against another all time great and Martina Navratilova and Evonne Goolagong went at it but this time Evonne only needed 2 sets to win the title and she did it in dominating fashion. It was not even a close contest as Evonne Goolagong won the first set by 6-3 and the second set she won more easily by 6-2. Evonne Goolagong had become a fan favorite of the Australian Open and her opponents used to feel the pressure every time.
