1979 US Open Final vs Vitas Gerulaitis


This was the first Grand Slam title in the career of John McEnroe so it has to be featured on this list and John McEnroe showed the world this day that he is worthy of being a Grand Slam Champion and he won this match in 3 sets and in dominating fashion. He won the 1st set 7-5 and then went on to win the next 2 sets 6-3 and 6-3. It was the start of something legendary and John McEnroe became very popular.

1981 Wimbledon Final vs Bjorn Borg


This is his first Wimbledon title and boy did he have to work for this title as he was facing one of his greatest rivals in Bjorn Borg. They had a 4 set thriller and everyone at Center Court had a blast watching these 2 go at it. John McEnroe lost the 1st set 4-6 but then he came back in the match in amazing fashion and won the second set 7-6 in a tie breaker and the 3rd set in a tie breaker as well by 7-6 and then in the 4th set he won 6-4 and won his first ever Wimbledon title.

1980 US Open Final vs Bjorn Borg


Before they had the classic at Wimbledon in 1981 , they had another all time classic at the US Open in 1980 where these 2 met again and it was a 5 setter this time and John McEnroe won the first 2 sets by 7-6 and 6-1 but then Bjorn Borg came into the match in his own style and won the 3rd and 4th sets by 7-6 and 7-5 and it was all down to the last set and here John McEnroe showed heart and determination and won this deciding set 6-4 to win his 2nd back to back US Open title.

1984 Wimbledon Final vs Jimmy Connors


The fourth performance on my list is the 1984 Wimbledon Final vs fellow great American player Jimmy Connors and here it was a dominant showing by John McEnroe as he won his 3rd and final Wimbledon title in 1984. This was a 3 set match and John McEnroe won all the 3 sets with ease as he won them 6-1, 6-1 and 6-2. This was one of his best ever performances.

1984 US Open Final vs Ivan Lendl


This is the last performance on my list of John McEnroe and this was the 1984 US Open Final and here as well it was a dominant performance by John McEnroe vs Ivan Lendl and he won this match in 3 sets as well and he showed that he was a master of the US Open and the home crowd used to cheer him a lot. He won the 3 sets 6-3, 6-4 and 6-1. This was the 4th and last US Open title for John McEnroe.
