Chaminda Vaas is one of the earliest legends of modern Sri Lanka cricket and he was a vital part of the team that was the golden generation of Sri Lanka cricket and these players brought so much laurels to Sri Lanka throughout their careers and Chaminda Vaas was one of them. He was one of the best left arm fast bowlers in the world along with Wasim Akram at his time and the batters would not know how to play him and that led him to get many wickets in his career.

Personal Information :

Chaminda Vaas was born on 27th January 1974 in a small town of Sri Lanka known as Wattala and he like many of his teammates was into cricket since his young years and he started taking coaching and working on his skills to become a good fast bowler and after hard work he eventually got to play for Sri Lanka. He is fondly called by his teammates as Vasy and his height is 5ft 10 inches which allowed him to get the ball from a good height and get good bounce as well. He was a handy batter but he was mainly a left arm swing bowler.


International Information

Chaminda Vaas started playing international cricket for Sri Lanka in the year 1994 and he played till 2009 with great pride. His first test match was on 26th August 1994 against Pakistan and coincidentally his last test match was also against Pakistan and it was on 20th July 2009 capping off an incredible test career. His ODI career started against India on 15th February 1994 and his last ODI match was also vs India on 27th August 2008 ,he even played a few T20IS but he had to retire before he could fully explore this format.
