INTRODUCTION


Sandeep Singh an Indian professional field hockey player born on 27 February 1986. He is from Haryana and an ex-captain of the Indian national hockey team. He is well known for his full back playing position and is a penalty corner specialist for the team. In the media he has been dubbed for his specialization of the drag-flick as “Flicker Singh”, one of the fastest in the world.


EARLY LIFE


He took education at Shivalik Public School, Mohali. Sandeep Singh was a resident of Shahabad town in KuruKshetra, Haryana. His mother Daljeet Kaur Saini and father Gurucharan Singh Saini. Sandeep has an older brother named Bikramjeet who is also a field hockey player. He plays for Indian Oil.


INTERNATIONAL CAREER


During the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup in Kuala Lumpur in January 2004 Sandeep Singh made his international debut. In August that year, he made his Olympic debut at the summer Olympics held in Athens, Greece. Also, in 2004, He scored 16 goals at the junior Asia Cup Hockey held in Pakistan and became the highest scorer for the tournament. He played at the championships Trophy in Lahore in 2004 and in Chennai the subsequent year, and scored three goals every time.

POLITICAL CAREER


As a Member of Legislative Assembly (Haryana) from Bharatiya Janata Party Sandeep Singh was elected from Pehowa constituency during the 2019 Haryana Legislative Assembly election. He was sworn in as (MOS) Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs and (MOS)Minister of Printing and Stationery.
