Mohammad Asif was also one of the best fast bowlers in the recent history of Pakistan cricket. He was such a good swing bowler and a fast one as well. 1) 6/44 and 5/27 vs Sri Lanka (2006)


This is easily the best bowling performance of Mohammad Asif in Test Cricket. He took 11 Wickets in this test match against Sri Lanka. He took 6 wickets in the first innings and he did not allow Sri Lanka to bat freely. He Bowled 23 overs in this innings taking 6 wickets for just 44 runs and he gave away less than 2 runs per over. He was not done for this match as in the second batting innings of Sri Lanka, he once again took 5 wickets for 27 runs and his exceptional performance ensured that Pakistan won this match by 8 Wickets.

2) 5/76 vs South Africa (2007)


This was one of the longest bowling spells in the test career of Mohammad Asif. He was like a warrior in this innings as he bowled 38 overs as a fast bowler. He took 5 Wickets and he only gave away 76 runs which means only 2 runs per over. This performance gave Pakistan the hope that they can win this test match and Pakistan won this test match by 5 wickets. This was one of the best away bowling performances in his career.

3) 4/40 and 5/67 vs New Zealand (2009)


This was yet again an away match winning performance by Mohammad Asif and he was used to performing in away conditions. In this Test match he took 9 wickets. In the first batting innings of South Africa, they were all out for 99 and Mohammad Asif took 4 wickets for 40 runs in 12.3 overs. He was Sensational in this innings but he had saved his best for the second innings. In the second innings when the match was intense, Asif Bowled excellently as he bowled 23.5 overs in this innings and he took 5 important wickets. He only gave away 67 runs at less than 3 runs per over. Pakistan won this match by 141 runs.

4) 6/41 vs Australia (2010)


He had already taken a 5 wicket haul in South Africa and New Zealand and now Australia had also been ticked. In this test match, Australia won by just 36 runs but this performance by Mohammad Asif was the best of his career in a single test innings. He Bowled 20 overs in this Innings. He took 6 wickets and gave away 41 runs at 2 runs per over. He was the man who made sure that Australia were all out for 127 in the first innings. This was truly some of the finest fast bowling.

5) 5/77 vs England (2010)


He is one of the rarest fast bowlers from Pakistan that has a 5 wicket haul in all the four SENA countries where cricket is played. This test match was won by England but his performance in the first innings was truly special. Mohammad Asif Bowled 27 overs in the first innings and he took 5 wickets for 77 runs. This was at less than 3 runs per over. Mohammad Asif was one of the best fast bowlers in the world and all cricket fans wish he has not made that cardinal sin of fixing and all  the fans would have seen so much more from him.
