Waqar Younis played for Pakistan for 14 years from 1989-2003 and he had one of the best 14 year careers in cricket history. He played 87 Test matches for Pakistan where he took a massive 373 Test wickets at a very good average of 23.56 and he had 22 Five wicket hauls and 5 times 10 wickets in a match. In the ODI format he played 262 ODIs in only 14 years and he took 416 ODI Wickets at an average of 23.84 with 13 Five wicket hauls in ODIs. 7/76 and 5/54 vs New Zealand (1990)

This is one of his best bowling performances in his career and it came against New Zealand who seek like the favorite opponents of the Pakistani Bowlers to bowl their best at. New Zealand were replying to Pakistan in the first innings and Waqar Younis ripped apart the batting line-up of New Zealand that day and New Zealand were bowled out for 217 in the first innings and in the fourth Innings when New Zealand were chasing to win the test match it was again Waqar Younis who was the standout as he picked up 5 wickets in the Second innings and it allowed Pakistan to win by 66 runs.

7/86 vs New Zealand (1990)

This outstanding bowling performance came against New Zealand yet again in the previous test match from the first performance on this list and New Zealand were trying to get back in the game and Waqar Younis did not allow the New Zealand batters to settle down as he got 7 wickets for 86 runs in 38 overs bowling his heart out for Pakistan and winning then the test match. It was an exhibition in fast bowling and the signs were clear that he will be a very special fast bowler.

6/34 and 5/85 vs Sri Lanka (1994)

This performance against Sri Lanka was one of his very best in his international career where he single handedly won the test match vs a great Sri Lankan team. In the first innings he picked up 6 wickets and gave away only 34 runs and Sri Lanka were bowled out for a mere 71 runs in the first innings and this allowed Pakistan to take complete control of the test match. In the second batting innings it was again Waqar Younis who rattled through the Sri Lankan batting order and by giving away 85 runs he picked up 5 Wickets which means a total of 11 Wickets in the year's match and again Pakistan won this match.

7/36 vs England (2001)

This is one of the best ODI bowling performances of Waqar Younis and it came against a very good England side in 2001 at Headingley. England were batting first in this match and it was Waqar Younis who absolutely destroyed the England batting line-up and took 7 wickets at the rate of knots while giving away only 36 runs in 10 overs and Pakistan won the match quite comfortable so we can say that Waqar Younis was one of the biggest match winners for Pakistan of all time.

6/59 vs Australia (2001)


This was a very special performance by Waqar Younis because it came against the greatest ODI team of all time and he once again single handedly won this important match for Pakistan. In this match Pakistan batted first and scored 290 in their 50 overs and then Australia were going nicely but Waqar Younis started taking wickets one after one and then Australia started to crumble and eventually he took 6 wickets for 59 runs in 8 overs and won the match for Pakistan by 36 runs.
