91* vs Sri Lanka at Mumbai (2011)


Mahendra Singh Dhoni has played a lot of legendary innings in his career but none more important than this all time classic innings that he played in the final of the 2011 world cup and his last six to win the Cup for India will always live on in the hearts and minds of every Indian cricket fan. He didn’t have a great tournament till that point and his decision to promote himself ahead of Yuvraj Singh in the final raised eyebrows but only he knew why he did it. He came in the crease and immediately started attacking the spinners and the fast bowlers equally and the scoreboard kept going along, he had a great partnership with Gautam Gambhir and when Gautam got out ,it was his responsibility to take the team over the line and he did in some style and became an icon for the ages in the annals of Indian cricket forever.

224 vs Australia at Chennai (2013)


This was the innings that put Dhoni in the map of test cricket as a great wicket keeper batsman as he became the first Indian wicket keeper to hit a double hundred in Tests. He was in a destructive mood in that innings as he was treating this innings as an ODI match and just smacking the Aussie bowlers to all parts of the ground that day and rescued India from a tricky position and eventually he led India to win the match courtesy of his match winning double hundred. A truly extraordinary innings from an extraordinary player.

148 vs Pakistan at Visakhapatnam (2005)


This was the innings that gave MS Dhoni instant fame and recognition because it came against Pakistan at a very difficult time in his career when he wasn’t in the best of form. He came out that day and just started attacking from ball 1 and took the great Pakistan attack to the cleaners that day and as a result smashing an incredible century and in total he scored 148 runs in just 123 balls and announced his arrival on the world stage and there was no looking back from there on.

This would eventually become the highest ODI score in the career of MS Dhoni and in this Innings, he showed the world what an incredible finisher he was and this innings came while chasing a big total of 299 in those days. He came into bat at number 3 and immediately got on the attack against the Sri Lankan bowlers and hit a total of 10 sixes in the innings which was a record at that time by an Indian batter and India won that match with 23 balls to spare and after this innings, he became one of the biggest superstars in world cricket and other teams were afraid of him.

113* vs Pakistan at Chennai (2012)


This innings may not have come in a winning cause but it showed the responsible side of Dhoni and in this match the Indian team were 29-5 and from that situation MS Dhoni slowly built the innings and as the innings went along he started hitting fours and sixes and helped India post a very respectable total of 227 and showed that he is an all rounder when it came with the bat. One of the best innings by a number 7 batsman in ODIs.
