Pakistan batted first in this match and the middle order was at its best as captain Imran Khan led from the front as he made a valuable 72 runs from 110 balls and he hit 5 fours and 1 six in this innings. He hit only 26 runs in boundaries in this match. Then Javed Miandad, Inzamam Ul Haq and Wasim Akram also made valuable contributions and Pakistan reached a score of 249 in 50 overs. It was not a big score but Pakistan had something to fight with. Wasim Akram smashed 33 runs in just 19 balls and he hit 4 fours.
