This was the closest she had lost in the final without actually winning the Grand Slam. This was the 2019 Australian Open Final where she took on the then best in Naomi Osaka. And this was an absolutely incredible tennis match that went the distance and was over 2 hours. Petra Kvitova lost the first set in a tie breaker by 6-7 but she won the second set by 7-5 and it was everything to play for in the 3rd set but in the end Naomi Osaka had a little more in the tank as she won by 6-4.

4) 2012 French Open Women’s Singles Semi Final
This was the first of the 2 occasions she reached the semi final of the French Open and this is considered one of the hardest events all year. In the semi final Petra Kvitova faced against Maria Sharapova when she was at her best and in this match Petra could not show much of a fight but the fact that she reached the semi final is the reason this is on this list. Petra Kvitova lost this match by 6-3, 6-3.

8 years after her last semi final appearance at the French Open she again reached the semi final of the French Open and to do this after 14 years at the game was incredible.
