1996 Olympic Bronze Medal Match vs Fernando Meligeni


The best singles performance In the career of Leander Paes was at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where he won the first individual medal for India at the Olympics in tennis. That one win propelled tennis to becoming one of the most popular sports in India. He faced off against the Brazilian Fernando Meligeni and it was a 3 set affair in which Leander Paes lost the 1st set 6-3 but then he showed all his skill and heart and bounced back to win the next 2 sets 6-2 and 6-4 and win the bronze medal for India.


1999 Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Final


This was the first mixed doubles crown for Leander Paes who teamed up with Lisa Raymond and were up against Jonas Bjotkman and Anna Kournikova and it was a 3 set thriller right till the end. Leander and Lisa won the 1st set by 6-3 but they lost the 2nd set 6-3 but in the final set of the final they both showed that they are champions by winning the 3rd set 6-3 and winning the Wimbledon title.

2003 Australian Open Mixed Doubles Final


The third performance that we will talk about is the 2003 Australian Open Final where he teamed with Martina Navratilova and they were facing against Eleni Daniilidou and Todd Woodbridge and it was a 2 set domination by the pair of Leander and Martina as they only took 2 sets to win the title. They won the match 6-4 and 7-5 and it was the other mixed doubles Grand Slam with another partner.


2015 US Open Mixed Doubles Final


As late as 2015 Leander Paes was winning Grand Slam titles in Mixed Doubles and this time it was with another Martina as in Martina Hingis age they both made a great doubles pair. This final match was a classic and it was over 2 hours long and in the end Leander and Martina won the 1st set 6-4 then lost the 2nd set 6-3 but in the decider they won by 10-7 to win the US Open Final and become champions.


2009 French Open Men’s Doubles Final
