The Group stage matches were competitive and the teams were giving it their all to advance to the Super 8s. Let’s look at some of the group stage matches.
Australia vs Pakistan
The big match of Group A was between Australia vs Pakistan. In this match, Australia were batting first and they made 191 In 20 overs. Shane Watson was the highest scorer with 81 Runs. Pakistan could only make 157 and they lost the match by 34 runs.
New Zealand vs Sri Lanka
Group B had two big teams and New Zealand vs Sri Lanka was a very close match. Sri Lanka were batting first and they made 135 in 20 overs and Mahela Jayawardene made a brilliant 81 Runs. New Zealand chased down the total but it took them 19.5 overs and they lost 8 wickets.
India vs South Africa
This was one of the best matches for India in this World Cup. It was the big clash in Group C. India were batting first and they made 186 in 20 overs. It was thanks to the sensational hundred by Suresh Raina as he scored 101 runs from 60 balls. South Africa could only score 172 and they lost the match by 14 runs.
England vs West Indies
This was a rain curtailed match in Group D. England batted first and they made 191 in 20 overs. Then rain interrupted the match and West Indies chased down 60 in 5.5 overs and won by D/L method
Super 8s
The 8 teams that qualified for the Super 8s stage were England, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, India, Australia, Sri Lanka, West Indies.
In the Pakistan vs England match It was Kevin Pietersen who showed what a great player he is because he made a match winning 73 not out to win the match for England. They chased down 148.
New Zealand vs Pakistan was a close match as New Zealand won by just 1 run as they defended 133.
Australia beat India by 49 runs as David Warner made 72 runs. West Indies also beat India with Chris Gayle making a great 98 from 66 balls. For the second ICC T20I World Cup in a row, India lost all their 3 Super 8s matches and were knocked out.
Semi Finals
The four teams that reached the semi finals were England, Sri Lanka, Australia and Pakistan. Let’s take a look at these Matches:
England vs Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka were batting first and they made only 128 from 20 overs. Angelo Mathews was the top scorer with 58 of those runs. England chased down the total in 16 overs with 7 Wickets remaining. This match was played on 13th May 2010 at St Lucia.
Australia vs Pakistan
This was a high scoring and an incredible semi final. Pakistan made 191 in the first innings. Australia batted out of their skins and Michael Hussey played an incredible innings of 60 from just 24 balls. Australia won the match on the second last ball. This match was played on 14th May at St Lucia.

The Final of the ICC T20I World Cup 2010 was between England vs Australia. It was played on 16th May 2010 at Barbados. Australia were batting first and they made 147 in 20 overs. Dravid Hussey made 59 Runs. England chased down this total in 17 overs and they won the ICC T20I World Cup 2010.
