2022 T20 World Cup: Host Country and Tournament Format
The host country for the ICC T20I World Cup 2022 was Australia. The format for this tournament is similar to the one in 2021. There are 16 teams participating and in the first round the 8 teams that are not qualified for the Super 12 stage battle it out. From there 4 teams advance to the Super 12 stage. There are 2 groups of 6 teams each. The 4 best teams will then advance to the Semi final. The winners of the semi final will then play in the final.

First Round
The 8 teams were divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Super 12. In the first group, Sri Lanka and Netherlands qualified for the Super 12 stage. Both teams had 2 wins but the bet run rate for Sri Lanka was higher. In the second group it was even more close. Zimbabwe and Ireland qualified for the next stage. Both teams had 4 points and the net run rate was almost similar

The teams that reached the Super 12 stage are Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, Ireland, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, South Africa, Netherlands and Zimbabwe. Let’s have a look at some of the matches
New Zealand vs Australia
This was one of the most one-sided matches in this tournament. It was also some sort of revenge for last year. New Zealand batted first and they made 200 in 20 overs. Devon Conway was the highest run getter for New Zealand with 92 not out. Australia could only make 111 runs and they were all out. Tim Southee took 3 Wickets for 6 runs. New Zealand won by 89 runs.
England vs New Zealand
These were the 2 best teams In this group. This was a high scoring match. In the first innings, England made 179 runs in 20 overs. Jos Buttler was the highest run getter for England with 73 Runs. In the chase, New Zealand made 159 Runs. They lost the match by 20 runs.
India vs Pakistan
This was easily the best match of the whole tournament. Pakistan had made 159 in 20 overs. Shan Masood was the highest run getter with 52 not out. In the chase, India were in all sorts of trouble and Virat Kohli played the greatest innings in T20I Cricket. He made 82 of the most breathtaking runs in 53 balls. This match instilled a lot of belief in the Indian team. India won off the last ball of the match.
Pakistan vs South Africa
This was the match that Pakistan had to win to go to the next stage. They batted first and they made 185 in 20 overs. Shadab Khan was the highest run getter with 52 runs from 22 Balls. While chasing, South Africa could only make 108 runs in 14 overs. Due to the rain, Pakistan won the match by 14 runs via D/L method. Shaheen Afridi took 3 wickets for 14 runs.

New Zealand vs Pakistan
This was the first semi final of the World Cup. It was played on 9th November 2022 at Sydney. New Zealand were batting first and they made 153 runs in 20 overs. Daryl Mitchell was the highest run getter with 53 not out. Pakistan chased down this total in 19.1 overs. Mohammad Rizwan made an unbeaten 57 not out to take Pakistan to the final.
India vs England

Pakistan batted first and they scored 137 runs in 20 overs. This was a low score. In the chase, England batted sensibly and in 19 overs they chased this Target. They won the ICC T20I World Cup for the second time.
