The 2021 ICC T20I World Cup was held between 17th October and 14th November 2021. This was the 7th edition of the tournament.
2021 T20 World Cup: Host Country and Tournament Format
The hosts for the tournament was hosted by the United Arab Emirates. The format was such that there were 16 teams in the tournament. There were 8 Teams that qualified for the Super 12 stage and the other 4 teams would be determined via the first round. 4 teams out of the 8 teams in the first round qualified for the Super 12 stage. In the Super 12 stage teams were divided into 2 groups of 6 teams each. Out of these , 2 teams from each group would qualify for the semi finals. The winners of the semi finals will play in the final

First Round
The first round of the tournament was between the 8 teams that did not automatically qualify for the Super 12 stage. In this round there were 8 teams divided into 2 groups of 4 teams each. From the first Group, Sri Lanka was the top of the group as they won all 3 of their matches and Namibia finished second In the group. In the second group, Scotland won all their 3 Matches and topped the group Followed by Bangladesh who won 2 Matches.
Super 12
The teams that made it to the Super 12 were India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa Sri Lanka, Scotland, West Indies, Namibia, England. Let’s look at some of the matches
West Indies vs South Africa
This was one of the important matches of the Super 12 stage. This was between West Indies vs South Africa. West Indies were batting first and they made 143 in 20 overs. Evin Lewis was the top run getter with 56 runs. South Africa chased this total in 18.2 overs. Aiden Markaram hit a brilliant 51 not out from just 26 balls.
South Africa vs England
This was one of the highest scoring matches of this stage. South Africa were batting first and they made 189 runs in 20 overs. This was the most one-sided match of this World Cup. It was India that were batting first and they made 151 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli was the top run getter with 51 runs. Pakistan won this match by 10 wickets. Mohammad Rizwan made 79* from 55 balls and Pakistan chased the total in 17.5 overs.
New Zealand vs Scotland
This was the match in which New Zealand and Scotland had a good match. New Zealand were batting first and they made 172 in 20 overs. Martin Guptill made 93 runs in this innings. While chasing, Scotland made 156 runs from 20 overs. New Zealand won this match by 16 runs

Adil Rashid bowled the most extraordinary spell of the tournament. It was in a match against the West Indies. He only bowled 2.2 overs in this match and he took 4 wickets for just 2 runs. His economy rate was 0.86.
